"Dance, Dress, and Decorum, 1550 - 1910"
A period etiquette series of seven classes intentioned to inform the singer about the historical background and social expectations of a period or place in which the opera is set. To look at the origin of the costume, what it represented, how it was constructed and how it governed the physical etiquette of the day. The singers wear costumes of the period in the second half of the class and are taught the correct etiquette/manners and a social dance of the day which they may have to perform, should they be cast in an opera of the relevant period.
